The Ravdin Report. Weekly thoughts on sports, life, and culture
On Sunday afternoon in Lancashire, the home team, Blackburn, hosted Leicester. The home side is one of the worst Championship teams this season, so it is unsurprising that Leicester, one of the best in the competition, cruised 4-1 to victory. Lewis Travis, the player sponsored by MightyTips.com, was one of the best in Blackburn, but his good game wasn't enough for the home side to avoid defeat.
Blackburn are in crisis this season. With a loss against Leicester, they now lost three of the last four matches in all competitions. The game didn't start well for Jon Dahl Tomasson's side as the team from Ewood Park were behind after only four minutes when Wout Faes found the net. Five minutes later, Sammie Szmodics scored an equalizer. The rest of the game was one-sided. The brilliant Jamie Vardy's finish put Leicester up ahead once again in the 28th minute. Guests scored two more goals late in the first half, so the home side, once again, stayed empty-handed.
After another loss, Blackburn slipped down to the 18th position on the table with only ten points from nine league matches. The team was high-flying last season, but Blackburn hit the ground hard in the first months of the 2023/24 season, as they are only two points ahead of the relegation zone. In the next round, Jon Dahl Tomasson's team will play in Coventry against a team that didn't impress either and collected only one point more.

Lewis Travis, the player sponsored by MightyTips, produced another brilliant performance this afternoon. A 25-year-old product of the club's academy started in every Championship game this season. To date, Lewis Travis has two assists and on Sunday, he was close to another. The midfielder and Blackburn captain produced 85% accurate passes through the game and even had two key passes to his teammates, but they failed to convert them.

Blackburn's Jon Dahl Tomasson:
I'm really disappointed with the result, it's not a fair reflection of the game. We knew it was going to be tough against a side with a lot of Premier League players.
"We had the biggest chance at 2-1 with the shot from Travis. The penalty is very soft and the game is over."
Lewis Travis has been irreplaceable for Blackburn in the last few seasons, but it seems the player elevated his game even further this season. Travis was, for years, a classic tireless defensive midfielder who support the defense and act as a link between defense and attack. Still, the player elevated his game recently, especially his passing and vision. He already has two assists this season, while he had only seven assists in the previous four Championship seasons. Lewis is clearly a Blackburn leader who carries a lot of responsibilities on his shoulders, and any team success seems impossible without him.
